King’s Quest Haikus

Ugarte wrote a bunch of neat little Japanese haikus about various King’s Quest games to form this collection. A Japanese haiku is a very short, simplistic three-lined poem. The first and third line contain seven syllables, and the second line contains five syllables.

KING’S QUEST HAIKUS

ROYAL FAMILY OF DAVENTRY The king, the queen, the princess As well as the prince Are all one big family.	PIE Graham paid a coin for the pie That smelled very good And it was tempting to eat.
OYSTER Alexander talked So that the oyster got bored And made a big yawn.	OASIS Graham walked in the hot desert And then he saw it: Cool and refreshing water.
MINT The genie saw the green mint And tried to eat it It then made him feel dizzy.	LOLOTTE Lolotte talked to Rosella And asked her to get A unicorn that she liked
CAT & MOUSE Graham took out something And threw it at the black cat To save the small mouse.	OWL Graham found his castle missing. An owl knew the way. He agreed to go along.
THE MASK The golden mask is shattered Into five pieces That Connor must find and take.	PORTAL Connor entered the death world And found a dark thing That forced him through the portal.
GOBLIN Connor shot a small arrow That hit the Goblin And it soon died from blood loss.	ESSENCE OF SUN TZU Connor opened the statue And magic came out To make him a lot stronger.
GWENNIE Connor entered the small house And found her quite safe Telling her to stay inside.	NEW WEAPON The gnome sold a war hammer That Connor soon liked Because its strength was fearful.
WATERFALL Connor stopped the waterfall And found a tunnel That he entered and went through.	LADY OF THE LAKE Connor rang the bell And a nice lady came up To give him a sword.
GOBLIN Connor shot a small arrow That hit the Goblin And it soon died from blood loss.	CARNIVOROUS PLANTS The plants had large mouths That tried to bite Connor’s hand But he had a sword.
BREASTPLATE Connor killed the big monstrous Goblin And took the breastplate That quickly fell to the ground.	AZRIEL Connor met the Lord Who talked about the dark realm And its big troubles.
WATER Connor was thirsty And drank the fountain water To restore his health.	SLYPH Connor pushed some large boxes After some reading About the Sylph of Beauty.
BOATMAN The boatman talked about Halls And the Bridge of Life That leads out of the dark place.	AHA! Connor looked down at the ice. “I have an idea.” And he took out his fire gem.
