Deaf Hermit

Ugarte created this little poem about the deaf hermit in the shiplike house in King’s Quest 5.

KING’S QUEST 5’S
“DEAF HERMIT”

Graham and Cedric were on the beach
After escaping a huge bird.
They both wandered the sands
And looked beyond the waters.

They came across a ship’s bow
That was in the sand tilted up.
They noticed a door in it
And a bell just right outside.

Graham rang the bell nearby
And the door swung open
To reveal an old man
With a very long white beard.

Graham asked for help
But the man couldn’t hear.
Graham tried to ask again
And again the man was deaf.

So the old man closed the door
As if nobody was actually there.
That left Graham thinking
About how to get help from him.
